about

This record is a labor of love. For two years, these compositions and their wonderful compositors (and some others, which eventually did not find their way into the record) circulated in my mind wherever I went. However this is not a “tribute” album or a “cover” album; forget about “rocking the classics” or anything like that. The songs started from the original compositions and with time took off and developed on their own, mixed and mingled with multitudes of other musical ideas, inspirations and concepts, derived from my musical experience over the years. I’ve being working in my secret laboratory back home on these pieces, tried to make a Bitches Brew out of it all and re-project the music in a new light altogether. Hence, this is me trying to de-compose/ re-compose the compositions and integrate myself in them.

January 2016

"Wolf Salutes to his favorite composers by turning their big compositions into his own smaller raw material... not only that listening to the originals does not help enjoying the re-worked versions, it even damages it....the music in this album sound more organic than what usually happens when classic music meets rock music"
-Ben Shalev, Ha'aretz

"Wolf used the works of Satie, Starvinsky, Messiaen and others as raw materials which he reconstructed into a psychedelic, avant-garde work which stands on its own, even without prior knowledge of the originals"
- Gil Matus, 88 FM

"The works of famous composers are disassembled, thrashed, rearranged and rephrased according to the inner world of Yochai Wolf ....The more I listen to the album, the more I like it"
-Uri Zer Aviv, Time Out Israel
